Spotlight: Keith Cephus

Posted December 3, 2010

Every month Brent Van Dyken profiles a photographer's work in the Spotlight blog series. You don't need to be a big name to be highlighted; you simply need to demonstrate passion in your photos!

Celebrated photographer Keith Cephus, a retired Naval Chief, has worked with some of the most well known names in entertainment and politics among which are, President Barack Obama, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Sugar Ray Leonard, and singer Toni Braxton. NFL stars Aaron Brooks and Darryl Tapp have chosen Keith to create their personal portraits while John Paul Mitchell Systems, Clairol and Revlon are just a few international clients that have used his artistry to showcase their vision.

Within his 18 years of involvement in the photography world, Keith Cephus’ wedding work has been featured in numerous magazines across the country. Voted “Best of Weddings 2010” by The Knot Magazine. Cephus has also received recognition for his photographic excellence including the “Special Achievement Award" at the Virginia Fashion awards for his work in the fashion industry in June 2010.

Keith’s set-up usually includes a Canon 1D mk4, an ST-E2, and a few off-camera 580EXII’s. No matter how he is shooting though, Keith says he always relies on the reliability and functionality of his RadioPopper PX system.

During the little down time he has, when he is not off shooting a destination wedding, Kieth spends time with his wife and four children in Virginia Beach.

Good job Radiopopper. I follow a lot of different photographers, but Keith is definitely one of the most versatile. He excels is so many genres (fashion, sports, portraits, weddings, etc), but he is still a normal guy who doesn't mind sharing with us who are still honing our craft. Congratulation Keith, keep up the good work.

I ran into Keith at the beach last summer (2010) before a shoot and he asked me how I liked my RadioPoppers and I said I loved 'em. I think he was still using PW's at the time and I told him how much I liked being able to sync past 1/250. I'm glad to see he's using RadioPoppers now. :)

Thanks Sam for your kind words. I truly appreciate you taking the time to say what you said. I am truly humbled....

Keep up the good work Keith. I really admire your work! As you were, I'm serving my country in th US Navy. And I hope to turn this passion for photography that I have into something special as you did. Thanks for inspiring people like me!
